Lois Jean Thompson

Lois Jean Thompson, 80, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2023, at her home in Warfordsburg, PA.

Born June 24, 1943, in Warfordsburg, PA., she was the daughter of the late Hyson and Mildred (Orndorff) Akers and the wife of Jim Thompson.

She was a graduate of Southern Fulton High School.

She worked for the Federal Government for 34 years, having retired in 1997.

She was a member of and the Secretary of Treasures at Bedford Chapel Church, Warfordsburg, PA.

She enjoyed scrapbooking, crocheting, reading and gardening.

In addition to her husband of 50 years, she is survived by two sons, Bennett Thompson, Tampa FL., and Robert Thompson, Alabama; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Phylis Bradshaw, Warfordsburg, PA.; one brother, Hixon Akers, Kings Mountain, NC; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 15, 2023, 6-8:00 pm, at Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, MD. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 11:00 am at Bedford Chapel Church, Flickerville Road, Warfordsburg, PA. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Christian Church. Rev. Carl Sipes will officiate.
