Hancock, Maryland
Lyle Francis “Buzzy” Truax, age 76, of Hancock, Md., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 in the Veterans’ Hospital, in Tampa, Fla.
Born October 18, 1944, in Warfordsburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Bradie W. and Lenore (O'Rourke) Truax.
He served honorably in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran.
He worked as a maintenance engineer in Washington, D.C., where he met many dignitaries, including Nelson Mandela.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Jodi Lynn Googooian and her husband, Art, of Laurel, Md.; their triplet children, Adrian, Paisley, and Presley Googooian; his son, Christopher Truax, of Laurel, Md.; three sisters, June Percy, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Vallie Schetrompf, and Linda Ray, both of Hancock, Md.; a brother, Gene O. Truax, of Hancock. Md.; and forty-nine nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Estella Ruth Keefer, and Lorraine Schetrompf; three brothers, Lloyd Bradie Truax, Ray Matthew Truax, and Virgil Wallace Truax; and a special brother-in-law, Les Schetrompf.
Known as Buzzy by everyone, he was the life of the party and so quick witted. He never met a stranger. When he went hunting with his friends, they had guns, but he carried a camera; he just loved nature. He was a poet, and the best dad on earth! He looked sharp riding around town in his El Camino and Corvette. Most of all, he loved God and his family, and was so proud to have served his country as a soldier in the U.S. Army. Welcome home, brother!
A family celebration of life will be held in the spring.
