Lynn E. “Bill” Schetrompf, Sr., age 72, of Hedgesville, passed away after a long illness, with his family by his side, Thursday, February 16, 2012, at the Winchester Medical Center, in Winchester, Va.

Born November 18, 1939, in Warfordsburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Arlie J. Schetrompf, Sr. and Hazel Bishop Schetrompf; and the husband of Alverda Hoopengardner Schetrompf.

He was a member of the Victory Tabernacle, in Hedgesville, W.Va.

He retired in 1998, after 30 years of service, from General Motors, in Martinsburg, W.Va.

He was a 1957 graduate from Southern Fulton High School, in Warfordsburg, Pa.

He was a member of the UAW Local 1590, Martinsburg, W.Va.

Besides his wife of 50 years, he is survived by one daughter, Brenda Smith, of Hedgesville, W.Va.; one son, Lynn E. Schetrompf, Jr., of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; two sisters, Arlene Lemmert, of Warfordsburg, Pa., and Norma “Sally” Payne, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; two brothers, Kenneth Schetrompf, of Bartow, Fl., and Arlie J. Schetrompf, Jr., of Warfordsburg, Pa.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary King; and a granddaughter, Amber Schetrompf.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 20, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at Victory Tabernacle, Hedgesville, W.Va. Pastor Carl Clark will officiate. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery, Artemas, Pa.

The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md., on Sunday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and at the Church on Monday, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.  For the convenience of family and friends, the Funeral Home will be open from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made, in his name, to the Victory Tabernacle, 34 Victory Lane, Hedgesville, W.Va.  25427.
