Mabel Irene (Leasure) Hendershot, age 86, of Warfordsburg, Pa., passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at the UPMC Pinnacle Hospital in Harrisburg, Pa.

Born July 27, 1934, in Whips Cove, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Russell and Ethel V. (Smith) Leasure; and the widow of Glenn Dale Hendershot, whom she married November 27, 1952, and who died January 19, 2004.

She is survived by three daughters, Cheryl Hite and her husband, Wayne, of Hummelstown, Pa., Pam Krause, of Pleasant Grove, Utah, and Debbie Crouse and her husband, David, of Warfordsburg, Pa.; eleven grandchildren, Stacy (Hite) Cramer, of Hummelstown, Pa., Chaden Hite and his wife, Marci, of Payson, Utah, Jennifer (Hite) Denning and her husband, Matthew, of Whippany, N.J., Jason Krause and his wife, Katy, of Pleasant Grove, Utah, Amy (Krause) Lanehart and her husband, Chad, of Warfordsburg, Pa., Jessica Krause, of Pleasant Grove, Utah, Shauna (Crouse) Fishel and her husband, Brent, of Martinsburg, W.Va., Justin Crouse and his wife, Michelle, of Amissville, Va., Andrea (Crouse) Peterson and her husband, Tanner, of Las Vegas, Nev., Danielle (Krause) Davis and her husband, Steven, of Pleasant Grove, Utah, and Crystal (Hite) Mitchell and her husband, Scott, of Orem, Utah; thirty great-grandchildren, Mitchell Cramer and his wife, Kimmi, and his sisters, Brinlee and Addison Cramer, Baylee, Kyler and Ellie Hite, Abigail, Isabella, Alexia and Coby Denning, Ty, Katlyn, Jax and Cam Mitchell, Joshua, Olivia and Jared Krause, Bryce and Dallin Davis, Madison, Brody and Marley Fishel, Colt, Ryder and Lila Crouse, and Maddex, Presley, Elliott, Ari and Jones Peterson; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by seven sisters, Pearl Karns, Inez Mellott, Ruby McMonigal, Wilma “Billy” McMonigal, Erma Shanholtz, Dorothy Price, and baby Emma Leasure; and three brothers, Fred, McKinley “Mack” and Homer Leasure.

Mabel was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and held many callings throughout her life. In 1998, she and her husband, Glenn, served a mission for the church in Martin’s Cove, Wyo. This was one of the highlights of her life. Later in life, she was called as the Ward Indexing Director, and actively indexed over 25,000 records so others could research their ancestors.

She worked as an executive secretary for Hendershot’s Sporting Goods, in Hancock, Md. for thirty-seven years. After their retirements, she and Glenn enjoyed traveling, collecting antiques, and spending time together. She also loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was known as a great cook, and her grandchildren especially loved her “nanny bread”, sweet potatoes, rice pudding and angel food cake.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 200 Douglas Ave., Hancock, Md., with Bishop Chris Hartman officiating. There will be a viewing for one hour preceding the start of services. Interment will follow in the Buck Valley Methodist Church Cemetery, in Buck Valley, Pa.
