Margaret "Peggy" Lou Carnell

Margaret “Peggy” Lou Carnell, age 81, of Hedgesville, WV, passed away Friday, December 22, 2023, at Doey’s House in Hagerstown, MD with her granddaughter, Tonya Messner, by her side.

Born, Thursday, July 30, 1942, in Buck Valley, PA, she was the daughter of the late James and Janet (Ward) Schetrompf.  She was also predeceased by her husband William Carnell.

She is survived by five children, two daughters, Janet Ritchey of Falling Waters, WV, and Tena Booth of Warfordsburg, PA; three sons, Greg Carnell of Warfordsburg, PA, Johnny Carnell of Hedgesville, WV, and Jeff Carnell of Pennsylvania; one sister, Nancy Fox of Berkeley Springs, WV; one brother, John Schetrompf of Needmore, PA; nine grandchildren, several great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. 

She loved spending time outside gardening, mushroom hunting on her farm and snowmobile riding.  She very much enjoyed cooking for her friends and family.  She was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Needmore, PA.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Grove-Rogowski Funeral Home, in Hancock, MD with Rev. Denver Plessinger officiating.  Burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren, 2507 Pleasant Ridge Road, Needmore, PA.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the Alzheimer’s Association, 108 Byte Dr #103, Frederick MD 21702.
