Mario Pennesi passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 29, 2023. He was born on April 7, 1919, in Colonnella Teramo, Italy. He was preceded in death by his wife Cecelia Evelyn, his parents Guiseppe and Marianna, and his sisters Sblendore and Rosina.

He is survived by his daughters Linda Kunkle (Curt), JoAnne Nave (Jerry), and Anna Pennesi; his son John Pennesi (Cindy); and his grandson Kristoffer Lescalleet.

Mario served in the U.S. Navy from 1940-1946. He served as Chief Electrician's Mate on minesweeper ships in the Pacific Theater.       

From 1946 to 1962, Mario owned and operated his wholesale produce company in central Pennsylvania. In 1962, he retired from the produce business and entered employment as an electrician with Mack Trucks, Inc., in Hagerstown, Maryland.

After retirement from Mack Trucks, Mario and his wife relocated to Florida building two homes together and enjoyed growing and selling vegetables for 27 years. He remained in Florida four years after his wife's passing in 2009. Mario moved to Maryland in 2013 to live with his son and daughter-in-law.

The family of Mario Pennesi thanks Bonnie, Dottie, Lydia, Malinda, and Wanda for their love and caregiving during the last six years of his life. We also thank his Hospice Team and nurse Tim Berry, the Veterans Affairs Team, Father Jack Lombardi, and Deacon Jim Mason. We especially thank his daughter-in-law Cindy for the many years of haircuts, meals, shopping, ice cream rides, and her unwavering love and support. Ultimately, we thank God for giving this good man 104 1/2 years of life.
