Maxine Ruby Moats, age 82, of Hancock, died on Monday, April 21, 2014 at her home.
Born January 14, 1932, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Joab L. and Mary Elizabeth Ray Deneen.
She was a 1950 graduate of Fort Hill High School, in Cumberland, MD.
She was a homemaker and she was a member of Stone Bridge Church of the Brethren, where she taught Children’s Church, Bible School and Sunday School.
Maxine loved to study family history.
She is survived by her husband, Fred A. Moats, whom she married on August 2, 1950 in Cumberland, Md.; three daughters, Anita J. Morris, of Hancock, Roberta A. Martin, of Chambersburg, Pa., and Linda F. Martin, of Greencastle, Pa.; one son, Keith Edward Moats, of Clear Spring, Md.; two brothers, Clarence E. Deneen, of Tennessee, and Kenneth R. Deneen, of Cumberland, Md.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Roberts, and Ruth Deneen; two brothers, Raymond O. Deneen, and Homer D. Deneen; and two grandsons.
A service will be held on Friday, April 25, at 11:00 a.m., at the Stone Bridge Church of the Brethren, in Hancock, Md. Rev. Harry Strite will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md., Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m., and at the Church on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. For the convenience of family and friends the Funeral Home will be open from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday.
