McKinley Roy (Mack) Leasure, 87, of Warfordsburg, died Sunday, April 22, 2012, at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Bedford Memorial Hospital, in Bedford, Pa.
Born August 1, 1924, in Flickerville, Pa., he was the son of the late Russell and Ethel Smith Leasure.
He was a 1942 graduate of Warfordsburg High School.
He was a veteran of World War ll, serving in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific. He was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal; Army of Occupation Medal, Japan; Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon; and World War ll Victory Ribbon.
He was a member of the Whips Cove United Church of Christ.
He was formerly employed by Fulton Petroleum Sales; Over the Road Trucking; and he was a self-employed farmer.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-two years, Norma J. Clark Leasure, of Warfordsburg; two daughters, Alinda M. Elbin and husband, Danny, of Artemas, Pa., Alesa I. Naymon and husband, Brent, of Hazel Green, Al.; two sons, Roger E. Leasure and friend, Leona Sipes, of Warfordsburg, Rocky L. Leasure and wife, Carol, of Everett, Pa.; three sisters, Dorothy Price and husband, Joe, of Little Orleans, Md., Mabel Hendershot, of Warfordsburg, Ruby McMonigal, of Alabama; one brother, Homer Leasure and wife, Marion, of Cumberland, Md.; grandchildren, Byron E. Leasure, Roger Steven Leasure and wife, Karen, John K. Leasure and wife, Brandi, Thomas B. Leasure and wife, Lyndora, Tracy Leasure, Bryan Leasure and wife, Allison, Kelly Leasure, Julia A. Williams and husband, Orville, Daren L. Elbin and wife, Kory, Brody A. Naymon, and Mackina F. Naymon; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Elizabeth, and Mackenzie Leasure, Zachary, Christopher, Jonathan, Wyatt, Cody, Jasmine, Brenna and Evan Leasure, Colton and Caitlyn Williams; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brother, Fred Leasure; sisters, Pearl A. Karns, Wilma McMonigal, Inez Mellott, Erma Shanholtz, and infants; grandaughter, Amy Ruth Elbin, in 2008; and daughter-in-law, Linda Lou Booth Leasure.
A service will be held on Thursday, April 26, at 11:00 a.m., at the Whips Cove United Church of Christ. Rev. Gene Harding will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery, with a graveside military service.
The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, in Hancock, Md., Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m., and at the Church on Thursday, from 10 to 11 a.m. For the convenience of family and friends, the Funeral Home will be open on Wednesday from 2 to 9 p.m.
