Melvin Mills, age 79, of Sebring, Fl., passed away on Friday, July 01, 2016, at Good Shepherd Hospice, in Sebring.
He was born July 22, 1936, in Akron, Oh., to the late Walter and Millie (Wise) Mills. He later moved to Hancock, Md., where he graduated from high school.
Melvin spent his career with the U.S. Navy, and retired after twenty-three years of service. He owned Radio Shack in Hancock for ten years, before moving to Lake Wales, Fl.
He was a member of the Lake Wales Catholic Church.
He enjoyed writing and playing golf.
He is survived by his wife, Carrie Mills; two sons, David Mills and wife, Ann, of Worthington, Mn., and Darrin Mills and wife, Andrea, of Sebring, Fl.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2016, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 8, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Peter Catholic Church, 16 East High Street, Hancock. Rev. John Lombardi will be the celebrant. Burial, with military honors by the Tri-State Honor Guard, will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
