Mildred Smith

Mildred Elizabeth “Sis” (McCarty) Smith, age 89, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Friday, June 23, 2017 at her home.

Born November 22, 1927, in Millstone, Md., she was the daughter of the late James Wesley and Mina (Weller) McCarty. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert T. Smith, Sr.; a son, Ronnie L. Smith; two granddaughters; and great-grandchildren.

She had been employed as an assembler, for twenty years, with Prowler/Fleetwood Industries, in Hancock, Md.

She was a member of the Orchard Ridge First Church of God, in Hancock, since childhood.

She was a loving wife; mother of six children; twenty grandchildren; and twenty plus great-grandchildren. She was a beloved daughter, sister, and aunt, and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She was loved deeply by everyone. Rest in peace, and go rest high on that mountain, Sis.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md., and on Thursday, from 12:30 until 1:00 p.m. at the Church, preceding the services. Services will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2017, at 1:00 p.m., at the Orchard Ridge First Church of God, 14128 Orchard Ridge Road, in Hancock. Rev. Jeffrey Hawbaker and Rev. Ben Murray will officiate. Burial will follow in the adjoining Church cemetery.
