Needmore, Pennsylvania
M. Rodney Bernhard, age 66, of Needmore, Pa., a resident of Charlotte’s Home, in Boonsboro, Md., passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, at Doey’s House, in Hagerstown, Md., after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Born February 16, 1954, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was the son of Lois J. (Golden) Bernhard Paff, and the late Melvin E. Bernhard; and the husband, for forty-five years, of Peggy A. (Seburn) Bernhard.
He was a 1972 graduate of Southern Fulton High School.
He was employed by Tile, Marble and Terrazzo Workers, and Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local 1 of MD, VA & DC, until beginning his own company, M R Tile, from which he worked in the tri-state area laying tile for the past 25 years. Prior to working locally, he laid tile in the White House, the Pentagon and many government buildings and embassies. He was truly proud of his craft.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 561, in McConnellsburg, Pa., and the Williamsport Redmen Conococheague Tribe #84, in Williamsport, Md.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a daughter, Brianne L. Bernhard; a son, Lance S. Bernhard and his wife, Ashley; a granddaughter, Ryleigh S. Stine; a grandson, Ridge S. Bernhard; a brother, Chalmer L. Bernhard; two sisters, Joan L. Bivens, and Rebecca S. Haines; and two half-sisters, Linda L. Kuchnicke, and Barbara Stoffel.
Services will be private, at the convenience of his family.
