Nancy Ellen Bivens

Nancy E. Bivens, age 76, of Mercersburg, PA, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at her home.

Born Saturday, July 3, 1948, in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late Howard A. Shives and Margaret N. Weller.

Nancy was a member of Stone Bridge Church. She was an avid gardener and an excellent seamstress. She also enjoyed baking pies.

She served Stone Bridge Church in various capacities including Church Council Secretary. She worked for twenty-eight years at London Fog in Hancock, MD. She went on to work for Hagerstown Paint and Glass Company, retiring in 2018.

Nancy is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years, Carl E. Bivens of Mercersburg, PA; one son, Chris E. Bivens and wife Angel of Ellicott City, MD; one sister, Catherine Collins and husband David of Hagerstown, MD; two grandchildren, Connor and Sydney Bivens; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one brother, H. Alton Shives.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 29, 2024, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Stone Bridge Church, 14904 Orchard Ridge Road, Hancock, MD 21750. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 10:30am at Stone Bridge Church. Pastor Harry Strite will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
