Norma Louise (Hendershot) Ward, age 93, of Hancock, Md., passed away at the Fulton County Medical Center in McConnellsburg, Pa., on Wednesday, October 30, 2019.

Born February 5, 1926, in Buck Valley, Fulton County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Carl and Marie (Fischer) Hendershot, and the wife of Clifford G. Ward.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hancock, Md., and was active in Relief Society, the women’s organization of the church.

She had formerly worked as a nanny, a waitress, and a seamstress at London Fog Mfg. in Hancock. She played the mandolin in a band called the Blue Grass Rascals.  She loved being with her family, and she also enjoyed gardening, drawing, cooking, reading, genealogy, crafts, sewing, and flowers.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Wanda L. Kane and her husband, Eugene, of Hagerstown, Md., and Brenda M. Strait and her husband, Alvin, of Colorado Springs, Colo.;  six grandchildren, Shea White, Brittney Jones, Kyle Strait, Brooke Eldridge, Shauntelle Myers, and Kami Huckstep; ten great-grandchildren, Hunter Eldridge, Macey Jones, Lily Jones, Mylee Strait, Karter Jones, Betsey Strait, Breck Huckstep, Gunner Eldridge, Maverick Eldridge, and Jett Huckstep; one sister, Madeline Ward; and one brother, Gerald Hendershot.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn Hendershot and Sylvan Hendershot.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 7, 2019, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 200 Douglas Street, Hancock, Md., from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., and on Friday, from 9:15 until 10:15 a.m., prior to the services.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 8, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., at the church. Bishop Lance Hendershot will officiate. Interment will follow in the Buck Valley Methodist Cemetery, in Warfordsburg, Pa.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Grove Funeral Home, in Hancock.
