Paul R. "Pete" Golden, age 84, of Hancock, died on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at his home.

Born June 23, 1929, in Hancock, he was the son of the late John Russell and Verona Clark Golden.

He was a member of the Hanock Assembly of God Church, and the Webster B. Harrison Post 26 American Legion.

He was retired from the Maryland Department of Highways.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1951 to 1953 in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife, Louise E. Weller Golden, whom he married on December 24, 1954, at the Hancock Assembly of God Church; one son, Paul A. Golden, of Hancock; one daughter, Barbara Hullinger, of Hancock; one sister, Betty Knable, of Needmore, Pa.; two granddaughters, Karla Crosen, and Candace Hixon; and four great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter McKinley, James Golden, and John Golden; and two sisters, Ruth Unger, and Catherine Clingerman.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at the Hancock Assembly of God Church,  431 North Pennsylvania Ave, Hancock, Rev. Don Preston will officiate.  Burial, with military honors by the Tri-State Honor Guard, will be in the Stone Bridge Brethren Cemetery, near Hancock.

The family will receive friends at the Hancock Assembly of God Church on Friday, March 7, 2014, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hancock Assembly of God Mission Department, 431 North Pennsylvania Ave., Hancock, Md. 21750, or to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, Md. 21740.
