Paul David Shives, age 69, of Hancock, died Friday, November 1, 2013, at Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pa.
Born July 12, 1944, in Hancock, he was the son of the late William Leroy and Mary Virginia Kelly Shives, and the husband of Doris Marlene Clingerman Shives, whom he married March 12, 1971, and who died November 12, 2010.
He had been employed as an assembler for Fleetwood Industries, formerly in Hancock.
He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, in Hancock, and a member of Faith Assembly of God Church, in Warfordsburg, Pa.
He is survived by two daughters, Paula Wertz, of Warfordsburg, Pa., and Britnie Shields, of Cumberland, Md.; one son, Paul Shives, Jr., of Savannah, Ga.; one sister, Ruth Ritz, of Warfordsburg; five brothers, Larry Shives, of Warfordsburg, Jimmy Shives and Gary Shives, both of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Kenny Shives and Denny Shives, both of Hancock; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by one son, David Scott Shives; one daughter, Melissa Ann Butterbaugh; two brothers, Bobby Shives and Ronnie Shives.
A service will be held on Tuesday, November 5, at 1:00 p.m., at Faith Assembly of God Church, at 3297 Rice Road, in Warfordsburg. Rev. Delmas Bard will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Christian Cemetery, 3013 Pleasant Grove Road, Warfordsburg, Pa.
The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and at the Church on Tuesday from 12 to 1 p.m.
The family requests that memorial contributions, in his name, may be made to the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, MD 21750-0368, to help defray the funeral expenses.
