Robert Lynn Mellott, age 49, of Waynesboro, Pa., passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, near Leitersburg, Md., due to injuries resulting from an automobile accident.

Born October 6, 1971, in Fulton County, Pa., he was the son of the late Marion L. and Janet E. (Munson) Mellott.

He is survived by his two sons, Kyle R. Mellott, and Isaac D. Mellott, both of Waynesboro; a brother, Timothy Mellott and his wife, Joyce; their son, Joshua and daughters, Hannah and Chloe; a sister, Marissa Shoemaker and her husband, Darrin; his long-term, loving girlfriend, Sherrie (Miller) Diehl and her daughters, Shelby and Samantha. Lastly, Rob was adored by his beloved dog, Abraham.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents.

He was an honorably discharged veteran, as well as a dedicated employee of the state of Maryland at MCI, in Hagerstown, Md., for more than ten years.

Rob was a cherished father, brother, boyfriend, and friend. You knew he enjoyed you in his life when he was picking on you, or planning the next group outing! When he wasn’t out on the greens with friends or making something on the grill at the campsite, then he was usually tasting wine, critiquing beer, beating someone in a game of cards, or enjoying one of his many hobbies. His laugh will forever be heard, and his love will never fade.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Antietam Humane Society, 8513 Lyons Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268

A graveside service will be held in the Mount Olivet Presbyterian Church cemetery, 14253 Exline Road, Hancock, Md., at 1:00 p.m., on Wednesday, February 3, 2021. The services will be open to all who would like to attend.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Grove Funeral Home, in Hancock, Md. Online condolences will be accepted at www.grovefh.com
