Rodney Smith, Sr.

Rodney Randolph “Red” Smith, Sr., age 81, of Warfordsburg, Pa., passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at Doey’s House Hospice, in Hagerstown, Md.

Born March 14, 1939, in Fulton County, Pa., he was the son of the late Daniel and Bernice (Lucas) Smith.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army; retired from Mack Trucks, in Hagerstown; and was a member of the UAW.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by a son, Rodney R. Smith, Jr. and his wife, Joan; two grandchildren, Nathan and Abigayle Smith, of Warfordsburg; a brother, Dale Smith, of N.C.; and a sister, Carol Ann Young, of Ky.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Daniel Smith.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 18, 2020, at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, Md. Rev. Jeffrey Hawbaker will be officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Parkhead Cemetery, in Big Pool, Md.
