Rosalie Virginia Shoemaker, age 91, formerly of Hancock, died Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at the home of her daughter, Carolyn Hancock.
Born July 7, 1921, in Little Cove, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Ulysses and Ethel Verbena Moats Keefer, and the widow of Llewellyn “Buck” Shoemaker, who died April 16, 1999.
She was a homemaker, and a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, in Little Cove, Pa.
She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Hancock, of Williamsport, Md.; four sons, Junior Shoemaker, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Roger Lee Shoemaker, of Hagerstown, Md., Johnny W. Shoemaker, of Hancock, and Timmy Shoemaker, of Greencastle, Pa.; one sister, Regina May Yeager, of Mercersburg, Pa.; one brother, Ray Calvin Keefer, of Little Cove, Pa.; fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Weller, and Reva Ward; and two brothers, Woodrow Keefer, and Elwood Keefer.
A service will be held on Friday, March 8, at 11:00 a.m., at Stone Bridge Church of the Brethren, Hollow Road, Hancock. Rev. Harry Strite will officiate. Burial will be in the Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, and at the Church on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m.
