Rose Kirk

Rose Ann (Johnson) Kirk, age 91, of Warfordsburg, Pa., passed away at her home on Friday, May 15, 2020.

Born September 15, 1928, in Hancock, Md., she was the daughter of the late James and Ethel (Myers) Johnson; and the widow of William Van “Bud” Kirk, Jr.

Rose loved gardening and cooking.

She is survived by one daughter, Shirley A. Younker, of Mercersburg, Pa.; two sons, William Van Kirk, III, and John Michael Kirk and his wife, Wavy, all of Warfordsburg; one sister, Alice Irene Golden, of Hancock, Md.; four grandchildren, Ronnie Werdebaugh, Jr., Bobbi Jo Trovinger, Briar Kirk and Candace Kirk; and five great-grandchildren, Whitney Trovinger, Gracie Black, Bryce Kirk, Lily Funk, and Hazel Kirk.

In addition to her parents and husband, Rose was preceded in death by one daughter, Sarah Jane Werdebaugh; and one sister, Mary Susan Layton.

Private graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2020, in the Damascus Cemetery, in Big Cove Tannery, Pa., with Rev. Lowell Bard officiating.
