Russell Dickson Gordon, age 79, of McConnellsburg, Pa., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 15, 2016, with his family by his side, at the Fulton County Medical Center, in McConnellsburg.
Born July 21, 1937, he was the son of the late Paul D. Gordon and Margaret (Manning) Gordon, and the husband of E. Joanne (Swain) Gordon, whom he married on June 14, 1959.
He graduated from Southern Fulton High School with the class of 1956.
He was a self-employed business man including, Gordon’s TV & Appliance and RD Gordon Line Construction, and he established RD Gordon Mobile Home Park, in McConnellsburg.
He was a member of the Damascus Christian Church; the McConnellsburg Lions Club; and a charter member of the McConnellsburg Citgo Loafers.
Russ loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid hunter, but his passion was flounder fishing with his family and friends at his summer home on the Virginia shore. He also enjoyed crappie and perch fishing with his long-time friend, Carl Lynch.
Besides his wife, he is also survived by two daughters, Kathy McClure and husband, Don, of McConnellsburg, and Elizabeth Carbaugh and husband, Chuck, of Mercersburg, Pa.; a son, Brian E. Gordon, of Shady Grove, Pa.; five grandchildren, Courtney and Nick McClure, Eli, Emma and Isaac Carbaugh; and three sisters, Phyllis Kerns, of Hagerstown, Md., Sandra Premeaux of Casa Grande, Az., and Mary Lou Ebersole, of Fayetteville, Pa.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Russell D. Gordon, Jr.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 18, 2016, at the Damascus Christian Church, 197 Big Cove Tannery Road, Big Cove Tannery, Pa., from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and at the Church on Monday, one hour prior to services.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 19, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., at the Damascus Christian Church. Rev. Harold Peck will officiate. Burial will follow at the Damascus Cemetery, in Big Cove Tannery, Pa.
