Shawn A. Tasker, age 47, of Hancock, died at UPMC Hospital, Altoona, Pa., on Sunday, June 15, 2014, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Born July 14, 1966, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of the late Daniel L. Tasker, Sr. and Patricia A. Dawson Tasker.
He was a graduate of Beall High School, in Frostburg, Md., and a graduate of Frostburg State College.
He was employed with the Hancock Police Department, having 21 years of service to the community, and attaining the rank of Sergeant.
He was a member of the Defenders Police Officers Motorcycle Club; a member of the Fraternal Order of Police; a member of the James W. Bowers Lodge AF & AM #173, and a member of the Hancock Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa L. Hines Tasker; a daughter, Chelsie Deffenbaugh, of Cumberland, Md.; grandchildren, Talen and Brayden Deffenbaugh, of Cumberland; a sister, Teresa Tasker Feck, of Frostburg, Md.; and two brothers, Daniel L. Tasker, Jr., of Hagerstown, Md., and David C. Tasker, of Frostburg, Md.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Serena Peyton Tasker; and a sister, Cheryl L. Stephen.
The family will receive friends, for a memorial service to celebrate Shawn’s life, on Saturday, June 21, at the Hancock Assembly of God Church, 431 North Pennsylvania Avenue, Hancock, Md., from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
