Shirley Ann (Trail) McCusker, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 81 years of age, surrounded by family.
She was born in Hancock, Maryland to parents Lloyd and Sarah Trail on Wednesday, June 23, 1943.
Shirley met her husband Floyd in their teens, and they were married for 59 years. Their love truly spanned the test of time, and their bond was evident to everyone that knew them. Floyd and Shirley were inseparable for the lifetime they spent together, and modeled a loving, devoted marriage.
Shirley is survived by her husband Floyd; her sister Joan and husband Herb Ward; and by her two daughters, Tammy and husband Brad Shives; and Terrie and husband Steve Dandridge. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Cody; Sarah and husband Jared; Collin and wife Colleen; Abigail; Emily; and Spencer and wife Madison; as well as four great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Kolten, Paislee, and Everley.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Diane Zies.
Shirley was known for her unwavering kindness and selflessness, and friends and family alike regarded her as the sweetest person they had ever met. She spent her life caring for others, always putting their needs before her own.
In addition to being a wonderful wife and mother, Shirley worked for over 50 years, until the age of 72. She held positions with the U.S. Postal Service, London Fog Coat Factory, and Rayloc Company.
She is remembered fondly for her faith, her hugs, her cooking (especially her cookies!), her laugh, her sense of humor, and her love for everyone in her life. Shirley will be dearly missed, but we will strive to live by the example she set, and her love and kindness will always remain in our hearts.
