Shirley D. Stotler, age 70, of Greencastle, Pa., passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at her home.
Born Wednesday, August 30, 1950, in McConnellsburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John E. and Emma (Barney) Hixon; and the widow of the late George T. Frush, whom she married January 31, 2006, and who died April 13, 2013.
She graduated from the Southern Fulton High School with the class of 1968. She was retired from doing medical transcription and secretarial work.
She was a member of the Buck Valley Christian Church, in Warfordsburg, Pa.
Shirley was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling and had many exciting adventures with her partner-in-crime, George. She enjoyed a good glass of wine and time spent around the dinner table with family and friends. She loved hummingbirds and tracked their return to her feeders every spring with great pleasure. She spent a great deal of time working in her garden, tending her flowers and designing new beds. She loved her cats, and there was always at least one in her home. From her Siamese twins to the late and great Jack-the-Cat, Shirley was a tried and true “cat lady.” She loved her Indian Ringneck Parrot, Clementine. "Clem" was her companion these past few years and brought Shirley great joy, which she shared with others through Facebook. She enjoyed reading and shopping on QVC. She was a kind and generous woman, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Shirley is survived by one sister, Arlene Ritz, of Hagerstown, Md.; one son, Brian Trueax and his wife, Traci, of Greencastle; one daughter, Kerry Jacobs and her fiancé, Diarra, of Toledo, Ohio; one grandson, Byron Trueax, of Greencastle; and three granddaughters, Katie Jacobs, Emma Jacobs, and Blaire Trueax, all three of Greencastle.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Waneta Bechtel, and Audrey Roman; a niece, Jenny Breakall; and a brother-in-law, Earl Bechtel.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 3, 2021, at 6:00 p.m., at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md., with a gathering of friends one hour prior to the service. Pastor William Swope will officiate.
