Susan Eileen Flowers, age 69, of Hancock, died Thursday, July 14, 2011 at her home.

Born April 30, 1942, in Pearre, Md., she was the daughter of the late Elmer Perry and Susan Agnes McKnight Appel.

She was an in-home care provider for the elderly.

She was a volunteer for Loaves and Fishes, and had been employed with Sheetz, Inc., and Petals n Bows Flower Shop, all in Hancock, Md.

She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church Hancock, Md.

She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Flowers; one daughter, Kimberly Clark, of Clear Spring, Md.; one son, Mark Flowers, of Fort White, Fl.; one brother, Kenneth Edward Appel, of Solomons, Md.; one sister, Rita Jeanette (Nikki) Carzalho, of Brazil; one step-brother, Irvin Imes, of Charleton, Md.; two step-sisters, Ruby Manning, of Hancock, Md., and Anna Lee White, of Maugansville, Md.; four grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Joann Sipes; one sister, Judith Kinney; two brothers, Thomas Wayne Appel, and Donald Lee Appel; and one grandson, Randall Sipes.

A memorial service will be held Monday, July 18, 2011, at 7:45 p.m., at the Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, Md. Rev. John Lombardi will be the officiant.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Monday, from 5 to 7 p.m.

A memorial mass will be announced at a later date.
