Sylvia Ruth Crabtree, age 96, of Hancock, died Thursday, September 6, 2012, at War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

Born November 28, 1915, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Emma Cooper Iames, and the widow of her husband of 56 years, Hanson P. Crabtree, who died October 16, 1989.

She was retired from Mason’s Barn Restaurant, and had been previously employed at Crystal Laundry.

She was a member of the Hancock Presbyterian Church; a member of the Red Hat Club; the Hancock Senior Citizens; and was an avid bingo player.

She is survived by one daughter, Sondra K. Bishop, of Hancock, Md.; two sons, Thomas Donald Crabtree, of Kittanning, Pa., and Hanson Leroy Crabtree, of Kansas City, Ka.; twelve grandchildren, Tommy, Ron,and J.D. Crabtree, Carolyn Smith, Stephanie Elkin, Donnie Lee and Rick Crabtree, Diana Engle, Debbie Unger, David and Jim Price, and Frank Bishop, Jr.; and a number of great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and great-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sylvia Ruthella Price; sisters, Grace Miller, Vesta Meister and Dolsie Valentine; brothers, Percy and McKinley Iames, and an infant brother, Lester Iames; grandson, Joey Bishop; and three infant grandchildren, Donette and Johnny Crabtree, and Ericka Lee Engle.

A service will be held Tuesday, September 11, at 11:00 a.m., at the Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church, 14253 Exline Road, Hancock, Md. Rev. Philip Unger will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Church of the Brethren Cemetery, in Flintstone, Md.

The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, in Hancock, Md., Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and at the Church from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday.
