Terry Wroth Hepburn, a resident of Hancock until 2010, died in Columbia, Md. on August 24, 2015, on his 65 th birthday.

He was born in Hagerstown, Md., the only son of Edward Wroth Hepburn and Olive Dillon Hepburn, of Hancock. He was married to his beloved wife, Annabelle Stein Hepburn, who pre-deceased him.

Terry graduated from Hancock High School, and then from the Burnside Ott Aviation School of Opalaca, Fl., in 1968, with a “fixed wing” pilot’s license. In 1973, he graduated from Strayer University. He also received his CPA license from Catholic University.

He piloted a commercial helicopter for agricultural spraying in 1969 and 1970. He worked with his father at Hepburn Orchards, near Hancock, as Vice President, and later as the President of the Orchard Company, and of Pennmar Harvester, that was sold in 1987. In 1979 he bought the building and established his Hepburn Orchard Fruit Market east of downtown Hancock.

Terry was an Eagle Scout. He was the Chairman of the Western Maryland Rail Trail. He was a member of the Moose Lodge 2601 in Odenton, Md., and the Hancock Rotary Club. He served on the Advisory Board of the C&O Canal National Park from 1980 to 2000.

Terry and his wife, Annabelle, were members of the Church of Christ near Berkeley Springs, W.Va. For the past four years, he attended St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ellicott, Md.

In March of 2010, he developed a severe medical problem, and went to live in Harmony Hall, an Assisted Living facility in Columbia, Md.

He is survived by his daughters, Jessica Hepburn Sadler, and Monica Hepburn Lunn; and three sisters, Jean Rivera, of Las Vegas, Nev., Anne Hepburn Gebbia, of Hancock, and Diona Hepburn Soufal, of Falls Church, Va.

Graveside services will be held at the St. Thomas Episcopal Cemetery, on Church and High Street in Hancock, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 28, 2015. Rev F. Allan Weatherholt, Jr. will officiate.
