Thelma L. McFadden, age 88, of Hancock, died peacefully, Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at Julia Manor in Hagerstown, Md.
Born June 22, 1922, in Hancock, Md., she was the daughter of the late Oscar J. and Nannie Weller, and the widow of Kenneth Earl McFadden, who died June 10, 1989.
She was employed at various places throughout her life. She worked at Jacob Brothers, for many years, until they closed. She enjoyed working as a waitress, at the Skater Bowl, The National Restaurant, and the Bridge Restaurant. Thelma enjoyed these jobs because she enjoyed being around people.
Thelma had a special LOVE for animals. Over the years, she took many stray animals into her home.
She attended the Stone Church, as a child. In her adult years, she attended Orchard Ridge First Church of God.
Thelma is survived by two sons, Kenneth McFadden, and wife Lillian, and Sherman McFadden, and wife Sandra, both of Hancock, Md.; one daughter, Jeannie (McFadden) Divelbliss, and husband Danny, of Georgia; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren.
A service will be held Sunday, February 6, at 1:00 p.m., at the Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, Md. Rev. Jeff Hawbaker will officiate. Burial will be in the Stone Church Cemetery, Mercersburg, Pa.
The family will receive friends, at the Funeral Home, Saturday evening 6 to 8 p.m.
