Valeria R. (Younker) Shoemaker, 84, of Orchard Ridge Road, Hancock, Md., passed away peacefully on Friday, May 8, 2020, at the home of her daughter, Linda Keefer and son-in-law, Theodore Jay Keefer, Sr., where she had resided for the past six years. She was under the care of Hospice of Washington County.

Valeria was born at home, in Hancock, Md., on May 19, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Quay and Ruth Younker. She attended Hancock High School.

She was married to the late Roy Sherwood Shoemaker, and was the mother of ten children, and a homemaker. After Roy’s passing, Quay Robert Helman was her companion for thirty years.

Valeria was survived by three sisters, Lillian Hart, Sylvia Smith, and Patsy Klinger; one brother, Blair Younker; three daughters, Linda Keefer and son-in-law, Theodore Jay Keefer, Sr., Mary Hollenshead and son-in-law, Delmar Hollenshead, and Sandy Barnhart; twelve grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmar Younker, Dale Younker, and Bob Younker; five sons, Terry Shoemaker, Larry Shoemaker, Barry Shoemaker, Dale Shoemaker, and Randy Shoemaker; and two daughters, Beverly Shoemaker, and Lucinda Keefer.

A Celebration of Life to be announced at a later date.
