Virginia M. Rintoul, 93, died peacefully at her home Monday, December 20, 2010 at Solomons Nursing Center in Solomons, Md.

Virginia was born February 25, 1917, in Bethel, Pa., to Harry Lee and Estalene Manning.
She lived in Hancock, Md. until she married Army 2nd Lt. William Rintoul, February 4, 1945, and began the adventure of a lifetime as a military wife. Shortly after they were married, Bill received orders and off they went to Korea. After many years of traveling, as a military family, and after Bill's retirement, the family settled in Odenton, Md., where they lived for 35 years.

In 2001, Virginia moved to New London, N.H. to be near her daughter and son-in-law. In April of 2010, Virginia moved with her daughter, son-in-law and grand-dogs, back to Maryland, where she lived at The Hermitage at St. Johns Creek, Solomon, Md. She was so very happy to be back in Maryland.

Virginia was a life-long member of the Hancock Presbyterian Church.
She was a charter member of the Retired Officers' Wives Club in Ft. Meade, Md. She enjoyed golf and played with a group of lady friends well into her 80's.

Virginia is survived by her daughter, Jenny Lee Dodd, and her husband, Peter, of Dowell, Md.; son, Thomas Lee Rintoul, and his wife, Elaine, of McKinney, Tx.; their two children, and Virginia's grandchildren, Cory Rintoul, of Lubbock, Tx. and Casey Rintoul, of Pasadena, Ca.; and her grand-dogs, Sophie, Oliver and Wolfgang.
She will be sadly missed by her loving family and friends at Lyon Brook in New London, N.H.; Summercrest in Newport, N.H.; and Solomons Nursing Center in Solomons, Md.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Lee and Estalene Manning; her husband, William Rintoul; sister, Pauline James; and brother, Eugene Manning.

Services will be held, for the family, on December 23, at the Grove Funeral Home in Hancock, Md. There will be no public visitation.
