Wayne Phillip Diehl, age 77, of Hancock, Md., died on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at the Cumberland Health Care Center, in Cumberland, Md.
Born March 1, 1941, in Washington County, Md., and raised in Hancock, he was the son of the late Grant W. Diehl and Elizabeth “Betty” (Barnhart) Diehl.
Mr. Diehl attended school in Hancock; and worked as a security guard in Texas until becoming disabled.
He was a member of the Webster B. Harrison Post 26 American Legion, in Hancock; and he enjoyed fishing in his spare time.
He is survived by two sisters, Shirley A. Bishop and her husband, Lloyd, and Melody Bowman and her husband, Allen; two brothers, Grant Diehl, II and his wife, Alberta, and David Diehl and his wife, Tina; and also several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William “Bill” Diehl, and Robert “Bob” Diehl.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, from 5 until 7:00 p.m., at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, in Hancock, where a Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Rev. Philip Unger will officiate. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
