Wayne Herbert Ruppenthal, age 72, of Needmore, Pa., passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2020, at his home.

He was the son of the late Leslie H. and Helen L. (Baker) Ruppenthal; born November 1, 1947 in Frederick, Md., and raised in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

He was the husband of Florence (Golden) Ruppenthal, whom he married on July 27, 1975.

As a teenager, Wayne worked for Glaize Maryland Orchards, Inc.; afterwards, he worked for Kirk Ford Sales, in Hancock, Md., and later he ran his own collision service center until his retirement.

In his spare time, he was an avid race fan; enjoyed watching old westerns; and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jeffrey W. Ruppenthal and his wife, Nickie, of Inwood, W.Va., and David J. Ruppenthal and his companion, Jess Riggs; two brothers, Lewis “Buck” Ruppenthal and his wife, Rosie, of Hancock, Md., and Bernard “Bee Bee “ Ruppenthal and his wife, Shirley, of Warfordsburg, Pa.; five grandchildren, Allyson McPeak and her husband, Colin, Kristen, Jaylin, Hailie, and Carson Ruppenthal; his special little lady, Nicole Song; and three step-grandchildren, Caden, Christian, and Layni Dudash.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Sarah “Betty” Hovermale, Phyllis Blasy, Bernice Louise Ruppenthal, and Barbara “Bobbi” Smith.

The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md., on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., and at the church one hour prior to services on Wednesday.

Funeral services will be held at the Bethel Community Church, 1040 Bethel Church Road, Warfordsburg, Pa., on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at 12:00 noon. Rev. William Swope will officiate. Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.
