William "Bill" Lee Minnick

William Lee Minnick, age 84, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2025.

“Bill” was born Monday, August 5, 1940, in Frostburg, MD and was a graduate of the Beall High School Class of ’58 where he played football.

Bill was a U.S. Army veteran. He served abroad in Germany and then Colorado. He also worked with Rocky Mountain Fire and Recuse aboard a helicopter and volunteered with the Frostburg Fire Department when he returned from the Army.

After moving to Gaithersburg, MD, Bill started his own plumbing and air conditioning business. He later sold BILMIN Co and retired after moving to Warfordsburg, PA where he and Kasey built their second house. They later built two more houses in the area.

Bill was a member of the Potomac/Patuxant chapter of Trout Unlimited and later started the Seneca Creek Chapter where he served as President.

He was a member of The Hancock Lions Club and a member of The Hancock United Methodist Church.

Bill was an avid fly fisherman, hunter, boater, race car owner/driver. He loved Nascar and Capital’s Hockey.

He built his own fruit presses and made his own wine. He was a man of many talents who could fix anything.

Bill is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Kasecamp) Minnick, aka “Kasey”, Bill’s children, Luann and John Faulkner of Huntingtown, MD, and Brook and Melissa Minnick of Purcellville, VA; grandchildren, Rob Dinsmore, Emily Dinsmore, Ryan and Shelby Dinsmore, Drew Dinsmore, Brian Minnick, Sean Minnick, John Faulkner Jr., Katie Faulkner, and Jen Faulkner; sisters Linda Robertson of NC, Clara J Brooks of NC, Lois and Larry Shultz of FL and brother Chris and Debbie Buckalew of MD.

He was preceded in death by his father, William W. Minnick, his mother and stepfather Mary Jane (Williams) Minnick Buckalew and James Buckalew and brother Jimmy Buckalew.

Any memorial contributions can be made to Hancock United Methodist Church or The Hancock Lions Club.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the wonderful staff at Fahrney Keedy who tried so hard to rehabilitate Bill after a long illness.

Funeral service will be held at Hancock United Methodist Church, 170 W Main Street, Hancock, MD 21750 on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at 11 a.m. with one hour visitation prior. Pastor Becki Wessinger will officiate. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Hancock United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Frostburg Memorial Park, Frostburg, MD later in the day on Wednesday.
