William Edward "Bill" Dugan, age 86, of Hancock, Md., passed away Friday, January 10, 2020 at Gottlieb Hospital, in Melrose Park, Illinois.

Born August 16, 1933, in Hancock, Md., he was the son of the late William Edward and Mildred (Piper) Dugan; and the husband of Dorothy Emma "Dottie" (Lynch) Dugan, whom he married in 1952.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the 82nd Airborne Paratroopers.

He was a heavy equipment operator, retiring when he was seventy-five; and he was former IUOE General Vice-President and President-Business Manager of Local 150, in Chicago, Ill.

He and his wife, Dottie, were the owners of the Town Tavern, in Hancock, and Dugan's Buffalo Ranch.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and the Shriners, both in Chicago, the Webster B. Harrison Post 26 American Legion, in Hancock, and the VFW Post 655, in McConnellsburg, Pa.

He loved fishing, big game hunting, and motorcycle riding.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Billie Jean Fischer, of Big Cove Tannery, Pa., and Lisa S. Weller and her husband, Darrin, of Hancock, Md.; two sisters, Dellann Fultz, and Joy Martin, both of Cumberland, Md.; three brothers, Gary and Hal Ritchie, both of N.Dakota, and Larry Ritchie, of Cumberland, Md.; two grandsons, Brandon William Fischer, Sr., of Chicago, Ill., and Luke Weller, of Hancock, Md.; two great-grandchildren, Natalie Fischer, and Brandon William Fischer, Jr.; and his best buddy, Buster.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Lee Ritchie.

The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md., on Thursday, January 16, 2020, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 17, 2020, at the Damascus Christian Church, 717 Big Cove Tannery Road, Big Cove Tannery, Pa., at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Richard Bernhard officiating. The family will receive friends one-half hour prior to start of the services. Burial, with military honors by the Tri-State Honor Guard, will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
